we also have a bay window like that and even more window area, for us it's over 13m, the sofa is also in front of a window and we think it's great that way, I would not plan for less window area.

Whether large window surfaces or small ones is a fundamental decision; we also love our huge sliding doors; in summer, when everything is open, there is a wonderful seamless transition from inside to outside.

Those who do not like that build differently. In this planning, however, it is obviously intended.

... that hits the nail on the head. Additionally, the sliding doors face east. So we basically need more window area to have enough light in the living room.

I would have too little space for dressers, shelves, pictures, etc. with these window areas. Somehow I feel a room divider is missing here. What I once saw in an architect-designed house was a narrow panoramic window next to the dining table, from which you can only see outside when sitting. It was specially planned that way and I thought it was a really great idea.
