I am surprised that many people here "stuff" their garage with bicycles and other things. I would find my car too valuable for that, I would always be afraid that a bicycle would fall over and damage my car. However, I find a garage depth of 6m too short. Minus the walls, there is no space left to, for example, unload the trunk. The sofa in the living room is never enough for a family with two children to get comfortable on.

Best regards
Sabine

I thought it was a response to my post. For me, precisely a large room offers more flexibility than several small rooms. I consider the statement "if the house is well designed" complete nonsense (sorry ypg) – but I am building for 20+ years, and children naturally have a greater space requirement as they grow older. And when they have left the house, you can play hide and seek in the many storage rooms... Or you use the previously (well designed plan) of a large room for a larger bedroom, a hobby room, or for the home office. With your planning, I would have to tear down the walls – so much for the "foresight" in the planning.

We made sure that all rooms on the upper floor are about 16 m² (with the exception of the utility room and bathroom).
A good question is what we will do when the children have moved out
Sell the house and move to the sea? We'll see... alternatively, there will then be an art room and an additional Lego room.

I have only set up the kitchen 1 to 1 with the measurements as it currently stands in our rental apartment. It was only bought last year and I will still consult with the furniture store about how the kitchen can be "adjusted" so that it doesn't have to be set up exactly as on the plan. However, I already wanted to have it integrated in the plan in its current condition.

The living room is also built in 1 to 1 with the measurements as we newly bought it for the rental apartment last year. The armchair is actually not an armchair, but a footrest. It just wasn't available in the program. It will be enough for the first few years and as soon as the children are there and maybe a bit older, we will redecorate our living room. But now, to throw away the living room that will only be about 2 1/2 years old when the house is finished, I don't really see the point.

I will take another look at the garage and probably change it back to the old measurements. I am also reconsidering the storage room downstairs. Maybe there is a way to get more space into the utility room... But the storage room upstairs will probably remain in the plan.

As already mentioned, this is only the rough planning. The actual one will still be created by an architect. He has much more experience and will certainly create something more refined from this. I even doubt whether the statics would work even remotely with the current plan.

Regards Invi
