(and then a proper door to the pantry from the hallway).
When I talk about a pantry, I always mean it in the sense of "what Grandma still knew," i.e., for storing provisions. This sets different requirements than storing ingredients.
A pantry in the traditional sense is a kind of "mini cellar by the kitchen" and is used for cheese, potatoes, and canned fruits and vegetables. It offers a suitable climate for that purpose and poses planning requirements accordingly.
If you only want to store large quantities of dry goods that are not needed within easy reach (like the other nineteen bags of pasta) out of sight, that's a completely different planning issue.
In other words: those who have nothing to do with the culture of stockpiling in the grandmother’s way are actually satisfied with a "cabinet(room)" that can be positioned climatically more arbitrarily.
With the corner window, I would have concerns anyway that it wouldn't come into its own so well half under the carport.
I fully agree with you: the "certain something" of the corner window is of course strongly emphasized when you don’t have it like Hofer/maier/hubers in the kitchen, but in the bedroom.
