Well, you start from grandmother's times... I'll save myself the detour through the history of refrigerators and pantries in apartment buildings...

I would be interested in experiences with such a corner window. We are currently planning a new house and I wonder if it really is such a clever idea. So it's probably nonsense but I am quite skeptical about the stability? We are already happy that our simple patio doors have not all warped. Does it all close perfectly and does nothing bend? And what about the decoration - that is, curtains? Do they go around the curve? It sounds trivial, but doesn't that look strange? What is the advantage of this corner version? Just that the exterior view is different?

I've wondered that too, I do find them nice to look at but how practical are they really

The latter is indeed the only appeal. Presumably, circular windows are mostly found in stairwells because there is also no solution to the curtain rod question there.

Patio doors are a somewhat flawed comparison, since their two sashes have to fit into each other; with corner windows – unless it is a fixed element – there is a fixed mullion in between, otherwise it could only open outward. It would also be possible to make the glazing run around the corner, but I would share your structural concerns there. Basically, some profiles can also be mitered together; where that is possible, it is also stable. However, I would definitely prefer models with a special one-piece corner profile.

Rigidity against warping has to do with gravity. Gravity, of course, increases with the weight of the elements. The width-to-height ratio also plays a role, more precisely: not relative to the total height, but to the distance between the hinges. In the worst case, house door hinges are sometimes used for window profiles, but that looks inelegant and also rules out the issue of tilting.

I often advise builders to rather put a masonry pillar at the corner and clad it in the color of the window frames. In the classic case of "white plaster, anthracite frames," this is a visually convincing solution overall: running the lintel around the corner is firstly an expensive effort. And secondly, you get the same dumb looks for your curtain question analogously with roller shutters.

In this respect, I probably have to limit my agreement with the idea of placing it in the bedroom: that would practically require sliding shutters.

P.S. [Edit time unfortunately expired]: I was referring to openable corner windows "made from one piece".
