The surcharge seems to me to be way too high, I myself worked for an aluminum window manufacturer. Aluminum should be appropriately about 20% more expensive, 25k doesn’t fit with that. The insulation values of the frame profiles make no difference, aluminum windows today are constructed differently than in 1970.The surcharge for aluminum is 25k. Where is the added value? Worse insulation values?
For large-area windows, for lift-and-slide doors, and for front doors, I would only use aluminum. Plastic looks just as good in the first three or maybe even five years, even a professional admittedly only sees the difference with glasses. But after about fifteen years, the plastic frame profiles look slightly roughened, aluminum still looks factory-new after forty years.
Windows should match the architectural level of the house. I would find plastic here like plastic hubcaps on a Mercedes. It drives perfectly fine, no question. But it does have a touch of chipped nail polish on a designer dress.
