Hello, with Dahua or most identical models, unfortunately the indoor station must be purchased as well for the setup. That could be different with Goliath since they come pre-configured. Of course, then mobile phones, phablets, and tablets with Android, iOS, or Windows can be used as additional stations for audio and video transmission as well as door opening.

I had ordered a used POE-capable tablet from Allnet on eBay for testing. There, unlike with the normal tablet using the APP, I couldn’t get the ringing function to work and sent it back. Video and audio worked, but no ringing.
With the normal tablet, I set up the app. Video, audio, and ringing work (although sometimes the ringing is delayed), but with the normal login lock and the many clicks in the app, I find it completely impractical for everyday use. If the app is always in the foreground and the tablet is unlocked, it might work. However, I haven’t dealt with Tasker and such either.
I have now additionally purchased a used 2nd indoor station from Dahua for the upstairs office. Handling-wise, it’s a different league compared to the app and is also accepted by my wife. Of course, it’s not as universally applicable as a tablet.

Okay, thanks for the info. The acceptance at home obviously has to be right :) If I get around to it in the near future, I need to order a test installation and set it up...

Since the project is now completed, here is a brief feedback:

On Monday, the security technician came to carry out the door conversion.
Beforehand, I had laid the cable from the electrical distributor to the door frame.

The craftsman then installed a new multi-point locking system with automatic lock and A-opener. In addition, a cable transition was made from the door frame to the door in the door gap so that the cable could be laid to the A-opener. The power supply from the Goliath could be used immediately. The previous locking cylinder was also reused as a backup solution.
The connection to the security module of the Goliath door intercom system then worked without any problems.
Retrofit costs approx. 1,500€

All in all, I ended up just under €3,000 for the complete conversion. This includes:
- Goliath door intercom system with fingerprint module and RFID module and 10-inch indoor monitor.
- POE switch
- Power supply
- Security module
- Multi-point locking system with automatic lock and A-opener
- Cables/cable ducts etc.

The 2nd indoor unit (7 inches) was used and is not necessarily required, so I will leave it out.

Child and wife are enthusiastic so far. In this respect, it was worth it.

Thanks for your impressions!
We will soon have the Inotherm front door with the integrated fingerprint scanner.
Unfortunately, I haven’t made any progress with the video intercom yet... but we’ll see.
How do you like the Goliath in terms of feel and usage? Thanks!

Let's put it this way - it's a nice gadget. For me, the topic of fingerprint and RFID was decisive. If you don't want to realize the whole thing with different products, that massively limits the choices, and then you are in an area that stands out next to the front door, no matter whether you hang a Goliath, a Doorbird, 2N or something similar there. Visually, it's just no longer the small cheap 0815 camera. The Goliath itself already comes across as very high-quality even in the packaging. Whether the material still looks that nice after a few years remains to be seen. The first impression is definitely good, even though it is still plastic. I find the indoor monitor really chic (from the pictures clearly nicer than the Doorbird one). In the internal Goliath comparison, the 10-inch screen is easier to handle than the 7-inch. As an extension, the 7-inch screen is enough for us. For the hallway, I'm glad I went with the 10-inch display. In terms of operation, the system on the display is relatively easy to handle for everyday use. The range of functions is of course very limited. For the configuration itself in the web interface, I can imagine that some people might reach their limits. The system is set up so that it would also work for hotels and offices. That is naturally confusing, as you only use a fraction of it in a single-family house. However, if you buy from Goliath, everything is preconfigured so that you just assemble it but have to set up relatively little yourself. There are also good videos available to configure the remaining items like RFID and fingerprint without problems. There are several apps. I set them up on the tablet just for fun. They worked quite alright, but they didn’t really convince me. On vacation, though, you could check what the weather is like at home :) I have the feeling Goliath or Dahua rather rely on a closed system. Doorbird is somewhat more open at first glance, from what I’ve read. Anyone who wants to integrate the Goliath system into their smart home should, in my opinion, know what they are doing. Since Goliath only distributes the product here in Germany, you usually end up with Dahua in China for questions (at least I read that in a forum specifically about IP telephones). I managed to grab the image via browser on the computer, but everything else is beyond me. Here, is probably better informed. Anyone who finds the topic of door opener and internet connection too risky can also operate the whole thing completely closed by running the POE switch separately from the rest of the network. Then, of course, using the app is not possible.
