They only have very few tenants - what negative experiences have you had with it?
The bathroom was freshly done before we moved in. Otherwise, you rarely get to enjoy it, true. (In relation to the entire property, I think the budget was focused too much on the bathroom ...)
The main issue is the cold. In a cabin, you are quickly surrounded by warm water vapor. In the open shower, that drifts away, it’s noticeably colder. You then compensate with a 20l-consuming rain shower so your butt doesn’t freeze off. These are nowadays also considered standard, without anyone ever having tried them beforehand ...
Then, our model here is made with glass on one side. We have "only" 12° dH water hardness, but limescale is still a tedious issue on such a glass surface. Don’t come at me with a squeegee, when the water is off, I want to get to the towel and not squeegee the glass soaking wet.
The wide drain channel is considerably more maintenance-intensive than a normal drain. It smells quite quickly because water stands over a large surface area there.
Usually, these showers are also tiled and not provided with a shower tray/basin. Therefore, particular attention must be paid to slip resistance, which runs through the entire room. This can be a limitation in choice. For example, if you use skincare products under the shower in the cold season with dry heating air, ergo dry, itchy skin, this quickly leaves a film on the tiles, making them quite slippery despite slip resistance. This is not quite as extreme with our second shower, which has a shower tray. Your hair conditioner is also an example of increased slip potential.
Last but not least, small children in the room? Horror. They run in fully clothed at any time. Even if no one is showering at the moment, but the area is wet, you get wet slippers or socks.
Edit:
Never undercut a minimum depth of 1.50m – water splashes out! We have a bath mat in front of the shower entrance... not exactly in the spirit of the invention.
