I wonder anyway if there isn't some kind of nano-/lotus foil/coating that really and permanently works. Something that lets water bead off without leaving any residue. It can be expensive too, if it lasts accordingly...

Or something for impregnating as well. It amazes me that there’s nothing like that...

"easy to clean" I find an important criterion for everything in the house. Glass doors I consider impractical in this regard. I am a fan of shower curtains and have set it up so that I can change the height of the curtain rod, so that whichever curtain, it can rest on the floor and is not easily sucked inward. I admit: many people have a different opinion, but precisely for that reason I want to emphasize at this point: just because "everyone does it" doesn't mean it has to make sense. Fashions can obscure the view. For example, I find the trend to mount sinks like a bowl on a countertop completely absurd in terms of cleaning - but it is very widespread. I understand the wish for a narrow passage into the shower - also splash-wise - well ... it is just not wheelchair accessible and can be impractical for overweight people ... but basically a good idea.

Also the question about the light ... We have a bright LED above the shower (splash-proof separated by glass) and I always enjoy turning it on, although I really appreciate daylight, ... but where there is none, you can help yourself in other ways.

We also have a level-access shower in our new bathroom and I find it very pleasant.

... and one more thing I want to add: the "Mörtelshop" on the internet has many cement components with which you can also design shower room walls. I haven't tried any of them yet, but I consider the store absolutely trustworthy and versatile. You get excellent advice in the forum there.

Well then, just build a half-height wall and put the glass pane on top of it. It’s more about the dimensions anyway. Whether you have glass or stone "on the bottom" is purely a matter of taste, and you have already decided that. That’s how I understand it. In my picture, it’s exactly 50 cm to the outer edge of the toilet, which I find extremely comfortable. If the lower part is still built up, you can attach things like a toilet paper holder, a laptop table, or whatever else you need to this wall. Also, you don’t see everything that’s standing there through the glass. So... personally, I think half and half is the best solution, even if it didn’t turn out that way here. ...or a drying technique like in a car wash. They invent everything for those stupid cars......

Freestanding bathtubs somehow too, right? Wouldn't be an option for me because of the cleaning effort either.

Regarding the shower screen. Our glass screen is also not wiped down constantly and is quite easy to clean despite very hard water. What I personally find much worse are the corners and rubber lips of the pivot door. Soap scum, etc., tends to settle pretty well there. Please take a close look there to ensure there are as few "attack surfaces" as possible.
