Hello everyone,

I would be interested to know what you have crossed off your house construction and equipment list after maybe the initial enthusiasm. Was it perhaps the electric blinds, the smart home, the fireplace, one room, or other things?

If crossed off, it would be interesting to know why, and for everyone who has already finished building... Have you perhaps regretted it because of that?

Thank you!

Such a deletion list is very individual, since we do not know what is planned. In general, you should only delete things that are not absolutely necessary. Generally, however, you should keep the option open to realize it later. So build a chimney and omit the fireplace, etc.

We had a fixed budget. 300 all incl. with land and all extras incl. kitchen and landscaping. And a fixed room program, kitchen, bathroom, utility room, guest bathroom, living room, bedroom and two extra rooms plus walkable attic. Plus garage or carport and garden shed.
Therefore, some goodies were not possible. No colored windows, no photovoltaic, no clinker facade, no lift-and-slide door, no luxury bathroom, kitchen max. 5k. No clay roof tiles. What I regret in hindsight is that we should have spent the money on the clinker facade. The house, move-in 2017, was paid off in 2019; if we still had a few euros of debt on it now, it wouldn’t be so bad. Then never have to paint the facade again. But whatever, we don’t miss anything in living quality. k.

Fireplace, walk-in closet, freestanding tub.

The separate closet would have been nice, but we would have had to enlarge the house again for that. In hindsight, I probably would have done it too - not specifically because of the dressing room.

Quite quickly, the
- aerial work platform
- AGA stove
- natural swimming pond
- fireplace with wood stove
were put on the cutting list
Budget should not be exceeded
- whirlpool is postponed

- dressing room (the rooms were too tight for us)
