A range cooker widely used in the UK and yes, I got hooked on these things in Scotland. They are heirlooms - Wet clothes over the stove, or socks directly on the covered hotplate - always a hot plate partially used without a pan - stews in one compartment, porridge in the next, kettle and coffee pot on top of the hotplate - the whole thing makes the place nice and warm.

Actually the electric version of the old wooden monster from back in the day with water chamber, hotplates, and oven.

A floor plan with offices in the basement was turned into a basement-free floor plan with offices including natural daylight

In the open space, we have large window fronts facing south and west. On the west side, a terrace with a lift-and-slide door. Originally, we also wanted a lift-and-slide door to the south, but that would have changed the pathways in the room and would have created pressure to also build a terrace on the south side or even a surrounding one. This on an already limited plot area. Easily saved €10,000 and it is not missed at all now. The 10k (or more) instead went into a really cool sun sail

Fireplace - Got dropped because we know each other too well. We might still regret it.

KNX - I had started reading up on it, but the cost-benefit analysis didn't work out for me.

Basement - Groundwater, sheet piling. More space above ground instead.

Ceiling height - We just barely got approval for two full stories with 2.50 m. We preferred that over sloping ceilings in the upper floor.

Can't think of anything else at the moment.

hm yeah the fireplace, it was painted - mainly because my husband didn’t want one, and he could also plausibly explain to me why it doesn’t make sense in such a little house for us - because it’s simply too warm. And I wouldn’t have been in the mood to clean it anyway. So it probably would never have been used. I will probably only miss it if we ever have a longer power outage - and thus no heating, since it wouldn’t work then either.

We don’t have a walk-in closet, the child has their bed in there. So the room is there, you can use it differently if she moves out someday. Sauna maybe... oh. Otherwise, everything we wanted is there. So quite realistically, daydreaming doesn’t count here, right?
