What came on the cut list?

Our entire construction project began with a cancellation list: we wanted to reduce our belongings. That succeeded, as we took at least 70% of our stuff out of the new house. It was a healthy process and a huge relief for us.

[*]We wanted to green the north side of the 27° roofs because we thought it fit better with the forest behind. After learning about the extra cost, we crossed it off. Now there are Creaton Domino tiles on it and we don’t miss anything.

May I ask how much roof area it would have been and what would have been planted? What would the extra cost have been?

What's bothering you about that? In a new building, you hardly notice the underfloor heating anymore. We have about 23°C measurable on the floor covering (tiles and vinyl).

About 21°C like the room air. It bothers me when the floor feels warm. I like it when it feels a bit cooler – not cold. Although that's personal. The fact is, our house with our concept simply offers no reason to spend 10,000 euros on underfloor heating. The floors are not cold.

About 90 sqm – however on a 27-degree north-facing roof, 2 surfaces. The main additional cost was the statics (long visible rafters) and the system that prevents the whole thing from sliding down the slope. I don't have the additional cost at hand anymore, but I recall something around 50,000€.

Why was this put on the cut list?

The underfloor heating was put on the cut list because the main heating system is the masonry stove and we would have only used the underfloor heating if we went on vacation in winter. We had 18 square meters of underfloor heating and didn't think it was great. For this purpose, it would have simply been too expensive for us.
