It itches and I get a rash. I have to get a 1x protective suit for pruning and tape up my arms and legs. But the birds love it and it is there anyway.

uh no if there was already trouble, then probably steel mesh or something else. The main thing is that it's legally settled.

Planting a hedge is on our agenda too. Do you have any tips on how to do it? What's the easiest way to dig the holes?

A question of the soil - either a spade or a spade and pickaxe. When planting, make sure the roots really face down and are not turned back up - this way you get a healthier and better-growing plant and a nicer hedge. Don’t use cherry laurel - this is like a desert for birds and useless from a nature perspective here. Beech, for example, remains quite dense in winter. You can improve the soil a bit with EM (Effective Microorganisms) preparations.

First, we soaked the individual plants so that the roots could absorb water. Due to the already compacted soil, we first loosened the earth with the "pickaxe" and dug a trench with regular shovels. The soil was piled up directly behind as an "earth wall," so that after placing each plant, we could push soil by hand into the trench around the plant. Before planting the plants, we cut the roots and distributed horn shavings in the trench – this was suggested to us by the online shop.
