Very messy parquet laying work - Is rework not possible?

No. 2,000 also seems too much to me.

Just as 1,600 seemed too little to me. For me, materials were added on top and travel was not charged because of acquaintances. I also didn’t pay the rate for a senior craftsman hour. External companies charged up to five figures for the house.

So,

I did not refuse the rework of the stair nosings. It was simply ignored by the parquet fitter and he did not respond to it either.

As for the rest: We have a total of 7 expansion joints made of cork. All of them have been cut unevenly and crooked (differences of 0.8 cm up to 1.5 cm on one joint!). Visitors have already asked us "Is it going to stay like that?" The parquet fitter offered to straighten them. Straightening, which at the same time means enlarging the joints, is out of the question.

The costs of the third-party company for the replacement of the stair nosings and the crookedly cut planks/joints are being claimed as damages.

As I’ve said before... no wonder no one wants to become a craftsman anymore. Little money, little profit... and customers like you. Are you sure that all your customers would be satisfied if they applied the same 110% standards to your work as you do? Apart from that, the 2,000 EUR (net?) from the painter is a joke. He can charge 600 EUR net for it, but no more.

Good idea, let's just give craftsmen more money when they deliver crappy work. Maybe that will bring a bit more movement to the market. You could also reward caregivers separately when they mix up medications or pay educators a bonus when they play on their phones more than they interact with the children during work.

Here, it's simply expected that you take responsibility when you mess up. Just like in any other job. And in craftsmanship, you're often lucky enough to be able to fix your own mistakes. It's just a bit more work than doing it properly from the start.

Hehe... keep wallowing. If the shortage continues like this, in 10 years people will accept a crookedness of 25mm because the other craftsman promised an appointment in 3 1/2 years.

25 years ago it didn't matter, back then the client said "Great! I can't do better myself..." Today the flooring installer is threatened with a lawsuit over 8mm.

My final opinion on this: "You’ve lost your mind and deserve such shoddy work..." Pay the next flooring installer better, then he'll do better work, I’m still sure that the cheapest one was hired...

Yeah... go ahead, when bankruptcy then threatens you. Do you have your own business or are you productive, meaning you have to earn money with your work? Or are you one of the millions who are under "GK"? ;)
