I bet you would certainly have done the job better now :) . That was a company with over 50 years of experience... I wonder every day, how is that possible? A basic requirement would be to cut wood straight and cleanly...

Looks worlds better with the strip, congratulations. And with all due respect to the discussion about expansion joints, I would have been dissatisfied with the quality there as well. In my opinion, the joints were visually far too wide and cut catastrophically. I can make straighter cuts freehand with a utility knife.

The last "before" picture is really amazing. A true master of his craft stands next to it and seriously thinks it has to be like that? The floorboards haven’t even been cut straight, how cool is that :D

The moldings do look nice, even though they are shoddy moldings and will remain so.

Is there a solution for the staircase in the upper floor?

No, not yet a solution, but I will commission a third-party company to replace the floorboards. However, that will take some time as it won't be cheap. I can live well with the moldings in the bathrooms since they look visually very similar to the tiles. But the rest will definitely be replaced.

Wow, that was really terribly crooked. I think the solution turned out very well.

Jigsaw instead of circular saw, indeed. Probably his was stolen and hasn’t been replaced yet, he didn’t want to postpone the job and tell the customer that it has to be this way. (Tatsächlich wird hier bei Handwerkern Werkzeug geklaut, das ist nicht mehr feierlich, deshalb meine Theorie). I think the track looks good visually as a transition!
