We had an inspection on the construction site today to talk about the parquet. Laying direction and transitions. We had the choice between subtle transitions (2-3mm) between the rooms, or laying it through without transitions. When discussing the pros and cons and the transitions, we came across this thread here. I mentioned how I definitely don't want it o_O and showed him a picture from this thread here. Our parquet layer said that according to the rules of technology, it can be done that way – that it is basically "correct" – but he doesn't do it like that because it just looks different when it's nice.

If that’s true, then you’re unlikely to have any success getting a “I don’t like it” compensation here. This again shows how far the execution of the “rules of technology” is from a “beautiful” execution. From 1950, basically.

So, as always, communicate what you don’t want and what you do want/how it should look. A mindset of “I thought that…” remains and is always disadvantageous. In my experience, that leads to a communication problem and laziness in wanting to make it nicer as a craftsman.
