Hello everyone,
after we discarded the whole thing as a green flat roof last year, I am currently dealing with a terrace roofing again.

I have gone through the KD thread and also sent an inquiry earlier.
It should be a roof with 5-6m width and about 4m depth.
Since we are afraid that it could get too dark in the adjacent kitchen, I was able to make a glass roof appealing to my wife now, provided that I take care of the cleaning... :D

However, we have bigger concerns regarding the noise during rain.
How does it look with glass? Our bedroom is right next to the terrace on the ground floor.
Am I correct in assuming that a plastic roof is louder?

Besides KD, I have also contacted Schweng, can you recommend any comparable providers?
After receiving an offer from the aforementioned companies, I will also contact local providers to be able to request something comparable.

Thanks!

I used to have a glass roof with a slope and there were absolutely no problems regarding noise, it honestly felt like there was nothing at all!
At the new building, we are facing this issue again and are still wavering back and forth but ultimately it will probably be a green roof, so something dark underneath, also 5x4m, deep and directly in front of the kitchen :D
Overall, I prefer it this way because I also like to sit properly in the shade in summer and if I want direct sun, I'll just move the chair outside but I guess you have to make some compromise.
Of course, it is also a nice feeling to sit under the glass roof when it rains.
I definitely wouldn't take plastic, I don't like it visually at all.
I never cleaned mine, the rain took care of it by itself but maybe I'm just a wild sow.....

Why is acrylic glass actually not a common option?

We also have VSG adjacent to the WZ. During a downpour, you hear more from the roof in the bedroom than from the canopy in the living room. The wall to the canopy is 42.5 cm thick in our case. The roof is attached to the concrete ceiling. The wall is made of Poroton. During normal rain, you hear nothing at all.

We have now decided that we will use a wooden construction instead of glass. But so it doesn’t get too dark, we want to have 2 skylights installed. In the long term, the roof will then be extensively greened.

Since we will need a swing anyway in the near future, I thought about somehow combining that. We also have the problem that we don’t exactly know where to put the roof drainage.

So this is how I came up with the design:

On the left, there is space for a swing. When it’s no longer needed, a cozy hanging chair will go there. On the right, the gutter can continue and then be drained via a chain or a waterspout into the retaining wall.

At the front of the canopy, the awning will be installed, which we unfortunately bought (a bit prematurely) 2 years ago. That way, the paddling pool in front of the terrace can be shaded and the awning won’t be completely useless.

I find it pretty funny and am now waiting for the carpenter’s offer. A bit unusual, but that fits the house quite well :D:p
