We had an articulated arm awning (7x4m) from a well-known manufacturer. New, this awning would have cost over €7,000 from the dealer including installation. We then bought it used from a private seller and had it installed by the dealer. Total costs €2,600. After 2 years, we took it down again and had a patio roof (10x3.5m) built. Costs for that €6,200. As soon as it got a bit windy, the awning had to be retracted and you were sitting in the blazing sun again. Thanks to the roof, we now have shade at any time, can sit outside nicely in wind and weather (even heavy rain in summer), and everything that is on the terrace (table, chairs, grill, shoes) stays dry. For example, you also don’t have to remember to put away the tablecloth or seat cushions because it might rain. The awning was definitely a bad investment for us and the roof well-invested money, as we are super happy with it. If only we had known that beforehand.

For us, too, the advantages of a fixed roof prevail and we are also planning to get one. We are currently still collecting offers – whether it will be a KD roof, one from Schweng, or maybe from a local company is still open.
