We had a articulated arm awning (7x4m) from a well-known manufacturer. New, this awning would have cost over €7,000 from the dealer including installation. We then bought it second-hand from a private seller and had it installed by the dealer. Total cost €2,600. After 2 years, we dismantled it and had a patio roof (10x3.5m) built. Cost for that €6,200. As soon as it was a bit windy, the awning had to be retracted and you were sitting in the blazing sun again. Thanks to the roof, we now have shade at all times, can sit outside nicely in wind and weather (even heavy rain in summer) and everything on the patio (table, chairs, grill, shoes) stays dry. For example, you also don't have to worry about putting away the tablecloth or seat cushions because it might rain. The awning was definitely a bad investment for us and the roof was money well spent, as we are very satisfied with it. If only we had known that before.

our electric sun sail is the right solution for us, in the west we now have a vertical awning for low sun

Did a local company install the patio roof? €6,200 definitely sounds very good – is a sun sail or an awning for shading already included in this price? For us too, the advantages of a fixed roof outweigh and we are also planning to get one. Currently, we are still collecting offers – whether it will be a KD roof, one from Schweng, or perhaps from a local company is still open.

€6,200 also sounds pretty good to me – but I can't imagine that an awning is included here.

If considering a fixed roof, I am leaning towards Pergolux – so far I have only read/heard positive reviews.

By the way, from Friday until Sunday there will be a promotion with up to -35%.

Our canopy is from the company Ophelders in Erkelenz. The awning is not included because we chose the cheaper option with 16mm six-layer panels in the color opal. It is completely sufficient for us and we are very satisfied.

They have promotions all year round, don't be fooled by that. I bought a louvered pergola from them.
Price/performance has been very good so far, but the assembly with the instructions wasn't that easy. There have been many negative comments in recent weeks and months because deliveries either didn't arrive or were delayed, parts were missing, customer service is terrible, etc.
However, I bought mine much earlier and cannot report anything negative.
