That's exactly how we want it too, only covered with tiles. That's the coziest way to sit and you have great thermal insulation. According to acquaintances, light is absolutely not a problem

We also have a fixed glass patio roof and a bay window right next to it, they go well together. An awning would not have been an option for us at all, because it does not provide rain protection and therefore all seat cushions would always have to be put away and you cannot leave garden shoes, etc. on the terrace because everything gets wet. Our glass roof is great, nice and bright, and if it gets too bright and warm, we extend the awning underneath it.

Best regards Sabine

I also think that sounds great.

So when we extend our awning, there is clearly less light inside (even though we also have windows on other sides). I wouldn’t want to have this condition all the time. Of course, if it doesn’t bother someone, that’s fine, but a fixed roof clearly takes away light, how could it be otherwise.

So we have just as much light with the glass roof in the living room as without the glass roof. The glass roof itself does not absorb any light, only when we extend the awning is it darker.

Hello everyone,
we have now come to the conclusion that we want a fixed roof, which is attached directly to the house wall and should stand at a width of about 7m and a depth of 4m. I have attached a picture of the house so you can better imagine where it should go.
The roof should go from the inside of the bay window to the other side of the house. The terrace is marked with red tape on the ground, see picture.

The problem is: we found a Dutch site that has exactly what we want, but they do not deliver to us and we would have to do the installation ourselves. That is too risky for us. They have a roof with a translucent roof (opal polycarbonate), which can be lined underneath with fabric strips that are flexible. This way you can darken more or less as you like, great! Plus nice LED lighting etc., just our thing. And you can also order glass side walls etc. But it’s too far away...
What a shame. The price was actually right at about €7,000-8,000.

Do you have ideas and tips for us where we could look? As an example picture, I have attached one from their site.

Thanks and best regards
Chewi
