Whether the trees are protected or not, I have already thought about that. We would still find that out. I just spoke with the realtor again, who said that the plot of land is supposedly not that overgrown. Maybe the pictures are deceiving. We will take a look at it on Sat.

Yes, well, I would do as much work as possible myself and then have the rest done. I could then coordinate that with the company.
I'll get myself a nice axe, you can always use one

Thank you very much for your answers!

From personal experience: with 2 trees the axe-romance is okay, with 1300 sqm of wild growth with tree population better forget it. Just the disposal alone...

- For trees, you must observe the local tree ordinance. Not everything is allowed to be cut down and not everything can be felled at any time of the year.

- A small ad (Feuerholz zu verschenken) can help. State the type of wood and point out that self-felling is expected. Maybe you're lucky and someone is found.

- Depending on the price of the property (and demand), the seller might also take care of the clearing. That could be a bargaining chip.

- During the earthworks, a lot can be done if you get along well with the excavator operator and have some cash on hand... Likewise, if there are people nearby who have suitable equipment. A proper offer from a reputable company is likely to be expensive.

When we set up our input plan, the only regulation was that for cleared trees, a replacement planting consisting of a few deciduous and fruit trees must be provided (nature conservation). However, since one usually plants their garden with a few trees anyway, that is no problem. No regulations prohibiting the felling of certain trees were made.

Hi,

I have to bump this thread up. Our construction is supposed to start soon and now I'm wondering whether and if so, how I should prepare the plot beforehand. Currently, there are shrubs growing wild, no trees or anything like that. Just tall grass / undergrowth.

Is it necessary to remove all that beforehand or does it not matter and the surveyor can still stake out the land and the earthworks can simply begin?

Regards, teutates

Every developer/GC handles this differently. Properly, I would remove bushes beforehand. But usually, you don't need to do anything if only grass is growing there. The excavator doesn't care.
Some people thoroughly remove the grass beforehand to have "clean" piles of earth afterwards, so they can further use/process them.

It's best to ask your developer/GC.

The surveyors all handle this differently too. I believe bushes and grass do not hinder them during surveying. At least that was the case with us.
