Just a harmless question. Double washbasins in the kids' and parents' bathroom or not? My wife is against it, the architect thinks it would be sensible. Opinions?

If you don't tell us her reasons, should we decide by coin toss who is right? What do you mean by "double sink": a double-width single-bowl sink with two inlets?

Their reasoning is that they prefer a large washbasin with one sink. We actually hardly ever get in each other's way, so two sinks would hardly be worthwhile, and it wouldn't be a big deal even with two children. It would also mean more cleaning. The architect's reasoning is more or less the opposite.

Two sinks in the children's bathroom. They often have to leave the house at the same time and can brush their teeth together. Later, when that is no longer possible, at least no one complains about the other's tubes and jars. Cleaning effort is not an argument. It doesn't matter that much. That is an argument against a children's bathroom.

What I find much more practical about a large sink is the width of the basin itself. For example, if you want to properly rinse your forearms, it's much more comfortable to hold your arm under the faucet than with small basins, without dripping everything with your elbow. I can't say whether that's relevant for the children. We only have one. Still, with a large basin with two faucets, both can be used simultaneously there as well. And a large one is definitely easier to clean.

I was just about to say that too, one big basin but two taps!
