So a specialist salesperson told me, independent of the refrigerator purchase (so he couldn't make any money off me at that moment), that Samsung and LG refrigerators are now very recommendable, meaning they are not inferior to the BSH devices and are sometimes even more innovative.
Are there actually "breakdown statistics" like ADAC for household appliances? Maybe at the Verbraucherzentrale?
My wife again cannot recommend Haier based on personal experience.
I recently bought an Amica (Electrolux) for the house, but only a cooling device (without a freezer section). The first unit was defective. Replacement was straightforward with a great service partner (Hermes), really top-notch! If it always goes like this, I would always buy such a device again. The replacement unit is also running well now.
On the other hand, refrigerators have become so advanced and mature by now that not much can actually go wrong. I would probably deliberately avoid buying a smart device with Wi-Fi, etc. More components increase the likelihood of failure. And electronic ones more than mechanical ones.
