Only do the downgrade if money is tight. Otherwise, please don't. Although I find the €5k too expensive for the size.

It’s 4,200 euros with double glazing, sorry. But I’m also leaning towards the lift-and-slide door, we actually wanted to treat ourselves to that luxury.

Next topic roof:

I have received a first offer for the roof renovation. According to the company’s calculation, approximately 110 sqm of roof area: demolition of old roofing, battens, etc., new roofing with 16 cm of thermal insulation above the roof, insulation of the two dormers, concrete roof tiles, widening of the roof overhangs by 50 cm with cladding of white PVC panels, new slate for dormers and chimney: €60k.

I was a bit shocked and am wondering whether this might possibly be a defensive offer (the boss already said that they are currently completely booked and that 2023 will be tight for processing ...)?

I will receive a second offer this afternoon. What do you think about the price? Is that realistic? To be honest, I had budgeted about €45k.

I think unfortunately that is realistic, we already had an offer 2 years ago with only one dormer and less roof surfaces for €39,000, however with [Biberschwanz], which is somewhat more expensive. And also with [Aufsparrendämmung].

Okay, but my offer is at 1.5 times ... 50% increase within two years, if you compare that ... let's see what the second offer will yield later ...

Roof tiles have massively increased in price. Wood partly as well. Actually, almost everything, then you have more area and more dormers. It should work out. That the amount shocks you is of course understandable. We didn't have it done at our place, but for other reasons. Back then, I thought it should be possible with 25,000-30,000€ :p.
