Wow, you again. So I would be 70 minutes on public transport to work, they only take about 20-25 minutes. The little ones would also take quite a long time to walk to the daycare, and my wife cancels appointments because the shopping unfortunately takes three hours. By the way, I did not argue about the car based on its economic efficiency, but on its usefulness. And that's exactly the parallel to the storage, which undoubtedly has benefits (examples above) but please must not be argued about in terms of economic efficiency "it pays off". Because that is simply wrong.

I don't get it right now, but how the hell does anyone come up with the idea of comparing a car's performance to the storage capacity of a battery?
The saying about comparing apples and oranges has never been more fitting...

And if the oh-so-great sustainability of batteries is mentioned, you should also be fair and take their production and disposal into account.

On the topic of solar storage, I would also say that it makes little sense when viewed financially. I personally would set self-consumption as high as possible. For example, with a heat pump in winter, raise the flow temperature by 2 degrees to use the building fabric as storage. Or have the hot water preparation done primarily during the midday hours. Regardless of whether the sun is shining, you usually have the highest daily temperature at that time.

Overloading storage is a good thing. But in winter, the electricity from the roof anyway goes directly to self-consumption through normal household operations (lighting, heating).

And yet, from the perspective of a private household, the power grid is a storage. You can feed electricity into it arbitrarily and retrieve it later, but there is storage loss, because you sell the electricity, for example, at 12 cents and buy it back later at 25 cents. However, this loss is significantly (!) smaller than the one that occurs with your own electricity storage. I recently calculated an example on this...

Edit:

I am not discussing economic efficiency here. Either you stand by it or you don't. Some people simply stand in the way of the future. It's either progress or you stay at the current state of technology. It is my conviction.

I would be more flexible in my thinking. What progress is, and what is not, will be seen in a few decades, if at all. There was also a time when only electric vehicles existed (and carriages :=) ), and back then the petrol and diesel engines were the progress... and where are we now? Besides, you will also act economically in many cases, and not only future-oriented and ecological, unless you are one of the lucky ones who have practically endless money (this goes from buying food, clothing, building materials to vehicles you use...)
