There are only 3 options. One door in the bedroom, one from the hallway, or two doors.
From the hallway is too far for both of us, we have gotten used to the modern version of the bathroom in the bedroom and that is our personal luxury. Two doors are out of the question. It takes up too much space in the bathroom especially since the washing machine and dryer will be there and you have to lock twice. The bathroom is more audible, guests may use the bathroom more often if there is direct access. It should also be more expensive in terms of cost.

I think it’s okay if that is absolutely nothing for others. But for us, it is not negotiable. We know all options from experience.

And until when is the little one allowed to use your bathroom and possibly wake you up or disturb you during intimate activities (I have never heard of a child that age who NEVER has to go to the toilet at night)? And from when does she have to go downstairs? For me, that would be a nightmare because after nightly trips to the toilet downstairs and back I would be wide awake. But I understand that it’s unproblematic for YOU. :D

Apart from that, I am very curious about the project (the house is really super cheap) and warmly welcome you here in the forum! :)

Don't get me wrong, the child is allowed to go whenever she needs to, and it will definitely continue to be the case in the coming years that she brushes her teeth and pees with us. And she always comes into the bedroom on weekends to tell stories and wake us up, she is still allowed to do that at 12, 14, or 18.... :D:rolleyes: At some point, maybe around 8-10 years old, the age will come when it switches and going to the bathroom with mom and dad becomes uncool. Luckily, she inherited dad's bladder and doesn't have to get up all night, but I don't know any different except from my current girlfriend (or from 3 beers too many in the evening) o_O The price is indeed cheap, which is why I am curious about the result. Negative things can be read everywhere. But I was convinced by the Heinz von Heiden team from Dresden/Pirna. I can warmly recommend them.

Basically, it would first be the family bathroom and then the question is whether you can get it out again or if you (and the child!) really like it that way permanently. Then brushing teeth is skipped instead of waking up the parents. Oh, the toothbrush could also just lie downstairs, but now getting down again in pajamas... The priorities with "we're only in there for 10 minutes a day anyway" vs "this is our oasis, no one should go in (especially no visitors, God forbid)" just seems a bit contradictory. (Just like "going through one more door is too much for us" vs "the child will surely be happy about the bathroom on the other floor") In my opinion, a parents' bathroom only works if it’s an additional bathroom and not the repurposed family bathroom :/ But well, I think that’s been discussed enough by now. Do you already have plans for what you want to do with the property next? Actually, that’s the more exciting question ;)

It's funny that someone considers even a 6m hallway to the bathroom insurmountable, but still chases their child through the entire house at night. :D
Some people have the craziest ideas... well, with the current plan, you could install a door in the hallway if necessary.

The site plan is still not completely clear to me. From where is it accessed? Where is the street / driveway? Terrace in the northwest? Why not south? Is the plan not oriented to the north? It would be great if you could mark the paths, carport, sewage treatment plant, terrace, etc.

There used to be a three-sided farmyard on the property. It has been almost completely demolished. What remains is a basemented ramp of a barn in the rear area made of sandstone, which I currently still call a potato cellar. Great as a sledding hill in winter! :p Quite damp but a good, stable climate inside. In the long term, our gym will be built there on about 15 square meters, currently we use it as a storage room for tools etc. When we bought the property, there was a lot of construction debris and trash inside, no door. There is still quite a bit to do to the building fabric but there are still a few months until construction starts (repointing, stairs repair, new screed, small photovoltaic off-grid system, chimney).

In the area of the biotope I have integrated a slide into the slope, set up a play frame with swings, created a nice sandbox and a small fire pit. Next, a 50m chain-link fence with a 3m gate will be installed there because we want to have a dog again. The next project is also a playhouse for the kids in the next weeks. Otherwise, it will remain quite original, the grass there will be left to grow longer and processed into hay (rabbits).
If we get the bungalow with property from the neighbor, it will become a man cave and a workshop, in front of it a pool with a sauna house. My girlfriend wants to plant lots of flowers and fruits/vegetables. I have already planted about 10 trees by now :D It should become nice and green and provide a home for many animals.
In the area of the front property we have not planned that far yet, first we want to make sure the house is finished, nothing is possible before that anyway, currently our trampoline for the kids is here.
On the cistern/pit the garbage area/bicycle parking will be built, half covered and fenced in. The fence with a gate on the street will come last because the neighbor also uses the driveway and we still have to agree on how to handle it in the future (the rest is fenced in). I will lay paths and driveway in 9/11 granite stones, the terrace will run the full length of the house in wood on the north/west side. But these are all just ideas and not set in stone. Things often turn out differently than you think....

I also definitely want to clad the upper floor outside with natural larch wood horizontally, I like the Erzgebirge country house style - but the prices for wood need to fall quite a bit first. If there is still money left, I will build a photovoltaic system on the roof, the preparation for that will be in place. Let's see how prices and supplies develop.
