: I don’t know if you’ve been following everything, but the house, in terms of walls as it is, cannot be changed. But it is affordable. So your criticism is okay but doesn’t really help. In the end, we have to live in it and we are happy with the house as it is. We are basically very happy to be able to build a house at all, so little things or the luxury of being able to plan everything in detail are not that important to us. We have lived in various rental apartments and always adapted to the apartment. It will be the same with the house. For example, we drive an old Citroen Xsara from '98 :D It keeps running and running and does what it’s supposed to do. That’s roughly how you can imagine our approach to the house. It’s always just a material thing :)

@all: I will inquire about the second door in the bathroom and try to include it. Some people have convinced me. Let’s see what the extra cost will be.

Here’s a little impression of our potato bunker:

I find this attitude extremely questionable. A house is an investment that most people pay off their entire lives. I would not give up a shower forever for that. That is absurd (and by the way, a 4K surcharge for it is also absurd). These are not shoes that I send back tomorrow because I made a mistake. Details do matter here – because you pay a lot of money for each of them. A wrong decision will annoy you for a lifetime if it cannot be undone or is difficult to reverse. Therefore, better build in the lintel for the bathroom door in the hallway.

Off topic: Damn, despite having relatively many windows in the house, we got it wrong in both bathrooms. It never occurred to me. :-( Also goes on our list of mistakes. Maybe I can still save something with a nice mirror on the window side or a dressing table. Thanks for your hint, will be considered in the next house. ;-)

Wow. How romantic and mysterious. And your children could even practice drums there or start a music band or something like that. Great.

Not everyone has inherited a million-dollar property in Bavaria. The prices mentioned by the OP in the initial post are really extremely cheap for today’s standards. You definitely have to make some compromises in some areas. I can well imagine that moving into your own house, regardless of what flaws the floor plan may have, is desirable when the alternative is renting an apartment. For some people, that’s simply all they can do, and there is nothing wrong with that. I wish the OP all the best with their project, and that everything goes according to plan. :)
