Congratulations on the affordable villa plot from me too :) Nevertheless:

…. we like it above the bedroom. This way the path is short if you have to go over there naked at night ;). And 2 doors take up too much space and give the impression of a pass-through bathroom.

This is a narrow-minded one-sided view that leads to poor planning: the bedroom becomes a passage room! Ok, young people may eventually understand that the bathroom on the floor of their rooms is not meant for them. But young people also have a) nightly needs b) can get sick.. Unfortunately, I know from my professional life (I get to see many apartments and houses), among other things, I have to think here and now of adolescent attic residents without direct bathroom access who pee in juice bottles and stash them out of shame or laziness in their closets. On top of that, tissue balls with serological traces could pile up in the trash can ;) So, now entertain your mind with this setup and reconsider the door to the bathroom! :p

I find your attitude and approach very pragmatic and refreshing!

For me, however, the bathroom door solution wouldn’t work like that. I think it’s too one-sided. You don’t want your bathroom to be a walk-through room with 2 doors, but that way your bedroom becomes a walk-through room. If your child has friends over to play who are in kindergarten or elementary school, are they then supposed to go through your bedroom too, or do you think they are disciplined enough to go downstairs? Of course, it’s totally a matter of taste. For me, my bedroom as a quiet place would be more important than being able to go naked from there into the bathroom. A child also has to go at night sometimes and then stumbles past your bed or has to go downstairs half asleep.

: I originally also come from Chemnitz, in which district are you building? :cool: Well, the biotope has only existed since 2017, it is an old orchard meadow (apple), which stretches over about 3 plots. Since we border directly on the field with a view of the forest, this trick probably prevented the municipal council from allowing a farmer to build 5 single-family houses there. Good for us because we thus have an unobstructed view.

: We honestly consider the large bathroom to be "our domain." A kind of private retreat. It is not intended for anyone to go there to take care of their needs. If the little daughter does it, fine - we are generally pretty relaxed about it. And as mentioned before, I think it’s unproblematic for a teenager to go down a staircase. She will surely be happy later to have her own little bathroom where her own stuff is, the rest is upbringing. I personally also gave up on a second shower in the large bathroom and will always have to go downstairs early to shower in the future :confused::p But somewhere it makes no sense cost-wise and benefit-wise to have two showers. Our current one in the guest bathroom is only used once a year. All others (friends, acquaintances, children) are simply instructed to only use the guest toilet... Oh, and none of my three kids, including me, has to go to the toilet at night. Only mom does, and she enjoys the short distance :D
