We made sure when selecting that the vinyl is from a German manufacturer. And at the price (approx. 35€/sqm), it should be safe for health. However, I haven't looked any deeper than "should + German manufacturer." Our couch has very wide feet, so it’s probably not comparable to yours. So far, the vinyl has not shown any pressure marks, even from a heavy solid wood dining table, but as I said, we have only lived there since the end of November 2016. Since we also have full vinyl – no MDF board construction – I wouldn’t know how pressure marks could occur. Scratches, sure, but pressure marks?

Hm, okay. Then one more question about the floors. Assuming you have tiles and vinyl on one floor, how do you ensure that the two different coverings have the same height? I imagine the tiles would be higher because of their thickness, which could quickly create a tripping edge. Can something like that be effectively avoided?

We only have a very slight height difference between the hallway (vinyl) and the bathroom (tiles), which we have bridged with a small strip. When walking along normally, you simply don’t notice the height difference.

okay, so it’s reasonable. But you surely made sure of that so it wouldn’t get too extreme, right? Need to remind Weberhaus to do it properly.

To be honest, we didn’t really have a huge choice there. We bought a newly built terraced house from the developer. The developer offered a limited selection of floor and wall tiles for the bathrooms, from which we could choose something. At the same time, he stated in the contract that the maximum height in the other rooms should be XY so that it fits with the doors. That it fits so well together now was, to be honest, partly just luck. We simply knew that with the full vinyl we would stay well below the maximum floor thickness and that would be fine.

In the end, we decided on click full vinyl because it looks good, has a tactile texture, is relatively slip-resistant, has impact sound insulation thanks to the underlay, and could be installed by our craftsman without much effort. The price was also reasonable. Besides, neither of us is a big fan of tiles (outside of bathrooms), so this alternative was no longer considered.

Right, I don't like tiles either. Although with underfloor heating it's still manageable. I'm just wary of the insane mess you get when removing tiles. I believe the fine dust lingers for days. I've been told that replacing click laminate/vinyl/parquet is much easier. Can you think of any arguments that definitely favor laminate over vinyl?
