We have now also reached KNX (thanks to the persuasive work of ) and I am diligently reading up on it. I hope I have now found a competent electrician to support me with it.

The room book is almost finished.

The following will be implemented:

- ERR using MDT Glastaser 2 and MDT heating actuators
- Blind control including weather station (Gira or MDT)
- Lighting via switches and PM in different rooms and stairs as well as outside (only 6 lights dimmable)
- Reed contacts on the windows facing the terrace because of the blinds
- Doorbell via 2 tablets (Gira X1)
- a few switchable sockets
- Garage door
- Heat pump only for consumption data transmission
- Water consumption sensor at the house connection

BJ has a KNX system, I do not mean f@h.
By "frame" we mean the system for visualization that offers us as end users a framework and not "too many possibilities" (for comparison: Eisbär, which was the first one mentioned to us...).

Combined with BJ Welcome, we see a well-combinable solution and therefore ask for experience values.

Doorbell with Gira? With video? How does that work?

BJ does not have a KNX system but is a member of KNX and manufactures, among other things, devices that comply with the KNX standard. Just like there is no Apple 3G or Fritz DSL. But that's just by the way so you don't get confused with the terminology. There are also people who take advantage of this and then want to sell you everything only from this or that manufacturer.

Gira has always had devices in their range for video telephony.

Is Gira the better provider? It feels like I only read about the Gira X1 solution.

There is no "better". There is only different. Everyone has their own products and solutions, which basically fulfill the same tasks. All of them can be controlled, monitored, regulated, etc. via the same medium.

Kind of like with white goods, for example. Dishwashers, for instance. There is no per se "better" either. All clean the dishes, only one model has more additional functions and another fewer, and so there is something suitable for every customer.

The same goes for the devices from GIRA, BJ, ABB, MERTEN, MDT, JUNG, HDL, GVS, andundund([on the list are 450+ manufacturers]). They all have some kind of door communication in their range and with all of them it can be realized in one way or another and then combined with other devices from totally different manufacturers.
