We have 9 LAN sockets, where I need it there will be a 5-port switch behind the cabinet and that's fine. For Amazon Prime it's enough, 4k is overrated... I also lack the imagination for what you would need a gigabit network for in a private household if only 50 MBit come from the internet socket..
And I simply do not want to see that.. the armadas of local switches lying behind the TV and gathering dust over time... that's simply no option for me. If you’re building new - in my opinion - you should avoid such solutions if possible.
Just for the webcams that I will install around the house, I already need 6 network sockets...

Well, today you have 50 MBit - what about tomorrow? Broadband expansion will continue. The first larger core communities here are already laying fiber directly into houses. It won’t be long until the surrounding villages also enjoy this...
Better safe than sorry and with a gigabit network, you are very well equipped for the future.
