I only set up the network. SAT is simply streamed into the network via a TV server. No additional cables needed. Everyone has to decide for themselves. I refrained from it.

: Currently, I have IPTV running via the TVHeadend server and have Pis behind the TVs for that. Everything runs perfectly: EPG, switching speed, quality, recordings. Everything works. A colleague has the same setup with a SAT2IP server.

But I would need to ask what he is using.

Sat cable is high quality and using it is a no-brainer. When the Pi acts up, you need the tech dad while mom is nagging. SatIP is a nice thing when it works. But it also requires an external receiver again because hardly any TVs have one integrated. I would actually like SatIP but it hasn’t really caught on yet and you don’t only read good things about it. Unfortunately, it also seems there are no more SatIP LNBs, so you can save yourself the separate box.

Yes, everyone has to decide for themselves... I don't see anything oldschool about SAT wiring... but for that, I always have a stable picture and don't steal bandwidth just to watch TV...

And the costs for that are ridiculous... for under 500 euros you get a socket with a cable in the common rooms and the dish on the roof,

Shouldn't that be solvable with its own subnet and/or IPv6/QoS?

How high is the bandwidth for coax compared to CAT7?

No idea if that's just your way, but this constant devaluing of other opinions and the arrogance that comes with it is starting to get annoying.

You also don't like it when someone calls your opinions nonsense or KNX a gimmick... so does it always have to be that way?

It only unnecessarily distracts from the content of your posts... that would be a pity, don't you think?

This arrogance has also caught my attention more than once...

Completely agree with the "TV over IP" discussion. We still installed satellite cable.. simply to keep the house "marketable" as well.
