So, I’m starting a new topic here so the house pictures don’t get overused.

I find the slide doors for ovens quite interesting – but do they really offer added value? I was also astonished to read that what I hate about microwaves seems to be spreading to ovens as well: instead of temperature and possibly time, you enter the "dimensions" of the food?! What is that supposed to be?! I personally find it absolutely terrible.

The Thermomixification of the Oven Land

By the way, for all ovens approved for the first time from 2020 onwards, control via app on the smartphone or alternatively smart home control panel is mandatory. There, the recipes are directly uploaded from the online database and the corresponding ingredients are automatically ordered from Am**** Fresh when the fridge detects that something is missing.

Well, that then only concerns the ovens and showcase refrigerators with organic/lactose-gluten-sugar-free/vegan fillings in the show kitchen, right? In the low-maintenance backup kitchen for working, the appliances you can actually work with are then hidden away from curious eyes...

Since an oven usually costs around 600 euros, but manufacturers want to earn more, there are the following features:

Slide&Hide, app control, 10D hot air surround, Alexa voice control, pyrolysis, Swarovski crystals on the handle...

What I really find quite useful:
Coating for easy cleaning, at least 275 degrees, extendable rails, good energy label, even heat distribution.

Do you or your ovens actually have pyrolysis? Do you use it as well? I have to admit that I have absolutely no problems with cleaning the oven; it gets wiped down and, if necessary, treated with an oven cleaner. I've never missed pyrolysis – isn't that quite a waste of electricity?

How do you please use the ovens? With mine, there's no wiping (and I definitely won't spray chemicals aka spray into a combustion chamber where I prepare food).

Pyro is mandatory 3 - 4 times a year. It really consumes electricity, yes. But I cook whole birds on the tray, wings on the rack, spare ribs under the BO grill, etc. And if I also want to bake cakes and cookies, it needs to be detoxed. I used to spend an hour cleaning after a whole goose without pyro. That's not acceptable. Burn it off once, sweep out, like new.

I had written Slide&Hide. For 3kg pot roast in a cast iron roaster, I’m glad for every cm that I can get closer to the food. I also don't want to burden the telescopic extension with that. Also, transferring directly from under the oven is barrier-free possible. Since we often cook with two or even more, an oven door in the hallway is not desirable even for 10 seconds.

By the way, I think the surcharge-required NoFrost function in freezers is good. You can live without it, but it’s more convenient with it.
