Is satellite television still relevant?

I don't know how you’re supposed to be subscribed without Sat. Today, you can watch VOD content from Prime, Netflix, etc. on almost any TV device. Public broadcasters can be streamed live and for free via the app. Netflix and co. offer Ultra-HD content. IPTV can be purchased additionally or not. Sat only offers linear TV and no Ultra-HD, so for me it is not up-to-date, but at most a supplement for people who are not satisfied with the public broadcasters.

We also installed satellite, a total of 7 participants (double in the living room, bedroom, 2x children's rooms, office, guest). Currently, only one satellite receiver is connected in the living room. The TV in the bedroom can't even do satellite, I would need another receiver for that.

Overall, we watch regular TV for about 1 or 2 hours per month, whether that will ever change is questionable. If so, it would be because of Sky, which I currently use via Sky Go on the FTV.

I thought about whether to have it installed for a long time, now I wonder if I could have saved myself that. However, it is also about the resale value for me. We have already given up the classic Telekom connection, only Kabel-D came into the house for internet + telephone.

For us, the matter is settled, but I can understand anyone who forgoes it. If children come along, they will only grow up with Netflix & Co anyway, they will certainly no longer be interested in linear TV. For ourselves, it probably doesn't pay off, whether that will ever change?!

With Netflix and the like, there is no point in arguing when the question is how to receive TV channels nowadays. And with SAT, it is by far the best solution economically and technically.

Especially WebTV with Zattoo, Magine, etc. is not an equivalent replacement. You can have 3-5 devices, but only watch on two in parallel. Of course, not the same channel multiple times, sometimes not even from the same programming group (e.g. TLC and DMAX cannot be watched simultaneously on zatto (?)).
Magine has only stereo, Waipu only works well with a smartphone/tablet as a receiver and then "waipts" via Chromecast, FireTV to the TV.
And you don't even need to talk about picture quality. What they sell as SD and HD is sad in direct comparison to cable, and especially to SAT.

I have never used Vodafone TV. Entertain from Telekom is good, but mandatory receivers on every TV is not acceptable.

Whoever does not watch TV, ok. But for those who do, SAT is by far the best option.

I watch TV. Mainly Netflix, Amazon Prime, and ARTE Mediathek. The bitrates far exceed those of most SAT channels. And now?

I find the ZDF app, for example, better than Sat-TV. Because you have implemented the live program and media libraries well together and the quality is flawless. With private channels, of course, it's not that great, but who still watches that stuff today?
