Is satellite television still relevant?

The OP, he is asking about it. And many other millions of people as well, see ratings.

I really only know people who just watch TV, without apps and bars and stuff. They turn it on, press the remote until there's something they like, end of story. Who knows if you are even typical with netflix and stuff. What is that anyway? Karsten

Karsten, we are among those who look forward to 8:15 PM. Something is offered. And if not, then there is a film.

My youngest colleagues, around 20 to 30, all watch Netflix etc.

I think it's just different in your generation, with my parents it's exactly the same. It's nothing bad. But it doesn't apply to everyone anymore. With us it's mixed, with my cousins around 20 there is no linear TV at all anymore.

If you still watch a lot of linear TV, I would also go for a classic wired setup with SAT.

I am annoyed by the broadcasting fee and would never in my life think of subscribing to pay-TV (e.g. "HD"). My younger colleagues have Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Spotify (all together that costs IMHO quite some "money"). We have SAT and DSL and a NAS and a DVD player. And nowadays also an internet-enabled TV. What we need is covered with that.

Oh, and I would always equip a single-family house with a SAT system. Without much thought, that is just standard and works. Network cabling is on top of that for me.

Interesting topic.

We are getting fiber optic into the house.

I need a Telekom connection for the internet anyway. Then I'll just book Entertain and won't need the satellite dish. (wrong thinking)?

With good bandwidth, I shouldn't have any losses, or should I?

Of course, it's cheaper to invest a one-time 1,000 euros in a satellite system and then choose the smallest monthly tariff, but I haven't thought about that yet.

Entertain costs 45 euros per month in the long run, I think.
