Take both worlds. A satellite system with all the bells and whistles cost us an extra 800,-, installed, wired, three satellite sockets in the house, that's not expensive.

Sure, you can watch it for free via stream [emoji4]

We’re getting fiber optic and can also order TV through it, but we still use satellite. Satellite currently offers the widest variety and picture quality. And the great IPTV from Profider also needs coax cabling because the stuff is converted after the fiber. It’s supposed to be usable in existing properties as well

I accept the bet with the date of your post. What are we betting?

Hm, we have Prime and all sorts of apps, including [Mediatheken]: Sometimes I really get frustrated when I want to watch a film from yesterday. Not everything works, some things have to be searched for awkwardly in the [Mediatheken]. We watched the last documentaries on YouTube, not through the [Mediathek]. That is no substitute for us. If possible, we watch the offered program (documentaries) via SAT, films are not meant here.

I would lay both (Sat/Coax and DSL/Network) to all TV points, all from a common central point. Possibly even install an empty conduit with large radii. I still remember the early nineties when we were happy that an empty conduit was there for the new satellite dish cabling. Maybe fiber optic will come someday?

Satellite television is no longer up-to-date. Our children no longer watch linear TV; YouTube and Netflix are the trend. Today's programming no longer justifies the purchase, as we hardly watch traditional television anymore. For us, a [SAT Anlage] including multiswitch and distribution to all living and sleeping rooms would have cost over €2000. I can finance 200 months of Netflix & Co. with that.
