Yes, the Veddinge fronts are lacquer, or Bodbyn. One of the newer fronts Havstorp Wood with clear lacquer, e.g. Lerhyttan, Hasslarp

An island is not a problem. On one side we have the normal base cabinets, on the other side wall cabinets facing the dining area. The cabinets are connected to each other, there was a strip for that, but you had to improvise a bit. There might also have been a floor mounting, but we didn’t use it. We have a peninsula, so we just screwed the cabinets to the wall. Countertop on top, done.

You can work with Ikea. I wouldn’t say it is basically cheaper. For example, if you have a long row. With manufacturer X, 2 cabinets (2x 1.20m) are enough for me, with IKEA I need 3 (3x 0.8m). For very tall people, for example, I wouldn’t recommend IKEA either. A 25 cm plinth is not so sexy. It is very individual. Kitchen studios that advertise with % can be avoided directly.

In the end, the decisive factor is the final price. I see no advantage in knowing the exact prices per cabinet. I also don’t know how much the door and the rearview mirror cost in a car. It doesn’t matter.

... but I would rather recommend 3x80 than 2x120 .. or even 2x100 (not Ikea width) and 1x40 e.g. as an organized cooking supplies base cabinet next to the cooktop ;).

And, 25 cm plinth at Ikea, with standard countertop thickness you're at a working height of 109 cm .. that's the working height for really tall people. Then with standard manufacturers you have to go for cabinet heights of about 90 cm to effectively lower the plinth. Not every manufacturer can do that either. Or it's simply expensive.

The cabinets were just an example to show that it doesn't necessarily have to be cheaper than with a Nolte/Nobilia kitchen, etc.

I did exaggerate a bit about the base, that's true.
