Fight fire with fire? That cannot be the basis for planning. If something is too loud, turning something else even louder.

This has been in fashion for nearly 20 years now, right?
We separated them because in everyday life the disadvantages of an open kitchen outweigh the benefits for us. But we don't even have an island; we have resisted every trend in the kitchen ;)

It might be nice when visitors are around, but they can also sit in a closed kitchen.

Especially with children, I'm often grateful for every door that can still be closed when, for example, the baby is sleeping in the living room.
And the Christkind wouldn’t have been able to decorate the Christmas tree unseen in an open plan kitchen ;)

But here I agree with and , it’s something everyone has to decide for themselves. One person’s must-have is another’s no-go.

Right. Everyone has to decide for themselves. With a baby, I cursed the closed kitchen. Never again closed. The Christ Child comes during the church service. You should get to know the area you are moving to very well in order to be able to avoid noise sources entirely. Maybe a building gap with quiet older neighbors and mature gardens would be the right choice.

As we all know, we are right in the middle of it, and until some time ago, I was also someone who thought she would only build once in her life. Meanwhile, I think that I would go for it and build again if I found the ultimate mega plot (I always have to think of ’s statement..)

What I imagine so far that I would do differently:

1. more patience or rather think things over first / sleep on it, no ad hoc decisions
2. have my floor plan designed by a "real" architect (not a draftsman of a general contractor) and especially spend more time searching for one!
3. communicate my own ideas but not make "requirements." In the end, everything was always drawn exactly how I wanted it, and hardly any objections were raised as to whether something works well or rather doesn’t.
4. I would definitely make use of the service for life-size floor plans and, as recommended by (either or ), place or draw the furniture directly in the floor plan with real dimensions. We have currently made 2 changes to the floor plan during the shell construction because our planning error didn’t show up at all on the floor plan, which of course costs again.

And on the subject of the walk-in closet: we are also getting a walk-in closet (with a window..), partly for the reasons mentioned here before and partly because, for me, a wardrobe is so bulky. To me, it takes up too much space in the bedroom. Tall and wide. I like it airy. That’s why we made the walk-in closet area so that the huge wardrobe is out of the room.

We will arrange this quite differently, for example, because of the photovoltaic system. When most electricity is produced, most consumers will be turned on. So washing machine, dryer, dishwasher.

We don’t have photovoltaics. If we had one, I would consider it. But the topic is still in the decision phase.

But how do you implement that? Do you really think about turning on the appliances when the sun is shining brightly? You would also have to be at home for that.
