With 2.50 m ceiling height, you can’t hang pendant lamps? That’s the standard height most rental apartments have. People usually have pendant lamps as well. We also only like spotlights outside, we have some in the roof box, and they’re great there. Inside, I don’t like them because I think lamps can also be beautiful and add something to the room. Just spotlights would be too bare for me. And you can’t just quickly change spotlights; I can quickly swap a lamp if I don’t like it anymore.

Blinds: burglary protection and energy saving. Also, I sometimes walk around the house naked in the morning, and I don’t want to be seen. But in the evening, I still want to see our garden, so they stay up then. I also don’t like looking at closed blinds. I also sleep better since the blinds are closed at night; it’s just completely dark.

What ceiling height do you have?
We have 2.40m and pendant lamps in almost every room...

I wouldn’t have thought that roller shutters are such a controversial topic.

In our rented single-family house, we have both electric roller shutters and manual ones. And pleated blinds on the windows facing the street.

As soon as it gets dark, they are closed – just like in the whole street. You can see everything immediately if it’s bright inside and dark outside. But we are also rather private people. Manual roller shutters are annoying, prone to faults, the straps get dirty over time, and the wall behind them too if you’re not careful.

We currently have Rademacher roller shutters with their Home Station included in the offer, let’s see if that stays.

We didn’t build a house now, but have been living for years in a rented single-family house. Things we would plan differently: a proper vestibule with a cloakroom, access to the garden/garage from the kitchen, no awkwardly shaped garden, spotlights in the hallway, kitchen, and bathroom, washing machine and dryer near the bedrooms and not in the basement. Access to a shower from outside (for dogs), a much smaller bedroom, smaller home office.

I wanted to ask what the deal is with the thermostats that were mentioned more often in the first posts. Are they there anyway because of heating control, and if so, would you prefer ones with a display, or what's the background? Or are there currently none and you'd like to have some? (why?)

Some need "toys," digital ones with displays and coffee-making function . Others prefer to do without them entirely, as the temperature in the new building is controlled by the correctly designed heating system and thermostats are basically unnecessary (although actually required). For example, I haven't installed any throughout the whole house and therefore don't spoil my walls with them.

I have never really thought about thermostats. They are just there and set to 21. Done. It's a rotary dial with numbers on it. Lamps. I see it like Silke. Lamps in living rooms. Only in the hallway do we have recessed ceiling spotlights. They are fine there too.
