If building again - what to do differently?

We have also built quite recently. What we would do differently? Nothing. We looked at several show homes for a while, then searched for a reliable local partner and built our "dream house." Many things have already been mentioned by others before me, built the same way. We have many large, floor-to-ceiling windows (with electric blinds) and a wonderful view of the garden and flower beds. We like the layout with the bedroom and dressing room (plus window). The only thing that could really be a bit bigger is the utility room. Otherwise, we are very happy with our decision and the choice of our neighbors. :cool:

I always thought so too, until we built in an existing development 20 years ago. More or less the entire neighborhood gave us (at that time a young family with small children!) nothing but trouble up to the point of a lawsuit; they simply didn't want the lot to be developed (one even used it as an extension of his own garden)! Now we are building in a new development and yes, of course we miss the established lot.

My preference regarding existing developments was based on the fact that you can orient yourself to the conditions (windows & co). Of course you’re right, when it happens like it did with you, it’s obviously extremely annoying. Since we were received so incredibly kindly and warmly, it honestly never occurred to me :eek:

I therefore add: 12. good neighborhood!

I would like to ask why. Background: We are currently planning quite a few ceiling spots, which of course should be supported by table lamps, floor lamps, etc.

It's off-topic, but this really surprises me coming from you. You are our dear shutter-, monument protection-, and plush Pinki... how is it that you of all people are thinking about ceiling spots???

I don't understand what you have against ceiling spotlights and why fashion is now being used as a reason here? Building a house is an individual thing and people should have what they like. I'm outing myself. We will have ceiling spotlights in the: - hallway - both bathrooms - kitchen - terrace - as well as around the house. Properly "oldschool" style :cool:
