As I said, I don’t think anyone here needs to envy other users, I see the thread more as an exchange of information about how differently people deal with the topic. And honestly, hardly anyone here would envy us for our loan amount, but building in Upper Bavaria is just ridiculously expensive... Nevertheless, our jobs and our main place of residence are here, which is why we decided on the new build.

I don't envy people out of resentment either. I truly wish everyone well. I would just like it too. But we won't have to worry anymore in the future; there is still a lot of room for improvement for us. The last few years have been difficult though... first earning little after training, then studying for years, then soon buying the house. But it will work out in the next few years. And we are not doing badly now either.

The last few years have been difficult... first earning little after training, then studying for years, then soon buying the house.

It's very similar for us: both studied after school, a few months after I finished, our daughter was born, and my husband completed his teacher training at the end of my studies, so until then he hadn't earned much (I only had small part-time jobs). Now he has had a full teacher's salary for 2.5 years (however employed, not tenured, which makes a significant financial difference). And I haven’t worked at all (or any paid work) since the birth and am only starting now in August with a small salary. Last October we signed the construction contract and recently it started. Of course, there is not much financial leeway, but from our point of view it's sufficient.
