Garage centrally south, terrace in the south, west and north with a hedge towards the driveway.
Behind the garage then vegetable beds with compost, rear eastern third of the house entrance with utility areas – that can also be charming [emoji4]

Edit: West sun will certainly be swallowed by the neighboring house.

Edit2: Stairs in the north, opposite the entrance

The best side remains east. Morning nice sun and afternoon/evening in the garden still sun and on the terrace shade. Very nice not always having to gather everything together. We used to have a south balcony and even with a parasol, nothing worked. It is simply too hot.

In the apartment, we have a huge balcony on the south side and I also find it really unbearable in the summer, especially at noon.

You don't know. I think those are more position symbols than building envelopes, which we see drawn there as roof areas.

Thank you for the tips. What we have now, is of course great at these temperatures, but not so much during the transition period. It is often too cold to sit outside then. And this year is really an exception, last year it was only cold and rainy. I hadn’t even considered an east orientation again, I will now include it in my considerations. Structurally, almost anything is possible regarding placement, 3m to the boundary, except garages/carports. We will also easily meet the floor area ratio. According to the development plan, the house must have 1.5 stories with a max. height of 9m and eaves at 4m. But first of all, thanks, our preferred south or west orientation then doesn’t seem to be so optimal after all.

Rudi Carrell’s wish for a “real summer” may not be fulfilled every year, but when it is, one would rather grill than be grilled.

However, it still seems to me that many people associate south too much with “the cardinal direction responsible for the sun.” Ex Oriente Lux applies at every time of the year, and the day-shift worker enjoys the western sun most on weekdays.

And the misconception that just because the sun does not come from the north, it also does not come to the north is widespread.

Personally, I prefer my terrace to be closer to “Neighbor Friendly” than to “Neighbor Annoying,” so in this respect, cardinal directions are only “half the battle.”

Trees are also important, both regarding sunlight and windshade.

Therefore, my advice concerning house placement questions is, not least, not to make the focus on cardinal directions a tunnel vision.
