So, you can also make unnecessary worries. As it is drawn, it is logical. On top, NE driveway plus garage, facing SW the main body of the house, the rest a perfectly sunlit garden. There is also a parking space for guests. However, I would do it this way. Single garage 6 by 3, carport in front. The garage serves as a workshop, the carport houses the [emoji592]. The advantage is I need less area for the building structure. Cars don't have to stand completely inside. They are just cars after all. The gain is floor space for the house, so that I might even get 130 square meters of living space on one level now. Imagine, no stairs. How cool is that! Karsten

Thank you very much for the feedback!

Well, before I take out a six-figure sum, I do think about one option or another :D and as I can see from your explanations, you can certainly think about a few things (as you obviously have) ;) A bungalow is not an option for us because we want to keep living and sleeping areas separate that way. There are other possibilities, but that is certain for us.

Another option for us would be to move the house further south and make more use of the "southwest terrace." By noon at the latest, the west side of the property should also be in the sun, I think...?!

Why? The plot is not that huge to move the house much further south. Have you ever been there in person with a tape measure and some stakes? 555 sqm is not much.

The planning seems suitable to me, I would only shift the garage or carport a bit "forward," that is, start one driveway length after the property boundary instead of one driveway length after the building boundary. In the very limited plan excerpt, I believe I can recognize a ridge direction or house axis specification. I consider a square floor plan possible here, but one with a house axis orthogonal to the street rather not (?)

How is the specification "204.20" in the plan excerpt to be understood here?

People in the heath probably have a different perspective on that than in the Swabian Jura. In the SWR broadcasting area, that is an average size for a regular consumer.

The actual problem is that, in our opinion, there is too little space on the south side anyway to place a sufficiently large terrace in the middle of the house. Therefore, every meter in this area is important to us. An alternative for us might be to use the south and east sides almost up to the building boundary and then place the terrace at the southwest end of the house. This way, we would still have a terrace south(west) of the house but more space in the west, which could then be used from the afternoon onwards.

However, all this only comes into question if there are no other options... hence the question about an option for the garage :)

I already said. Make them narrower. Garage plus carport in front provides space. What else should be possible? She can't face south.
