You can consider it whatever chatter you want. It’s not so bad in a forum if someone points out a different side because he/she thinks differently about it. Yes, differences can indeed be exhausting sometimes.

Not least, one can seriously ask whether the motorized lock is not nonsense: because a motor in a door also needs a circuit board and raw materials that are problematic and should be handled with care. If everyone just cheers about how great a motor in the door is so they no longer have to turn the key themselves, then I find that quite problematic. Not because of the individual but because of the culture that wants to do everything possible simply because it is so practical—a culture that is thereby fueled once again just a little more.

Oh dear. An automatic lock is a little bit more mechanics and metal. You can also overdo it.

I find it super practical. I have household members who struggle with regularly locking the door. The discussion was settled with that. Besides, it was practical in combination with the fingerprint reader. An A-lock with A-opener (ha!) is significantly cheaper than a motor lock, less prone to errors (keyword follow-up costs), and you don’t have to wait for the casing either.

Someone's feeling attacked here. I did say, each to their own. It didn’t sound that way the other way around. Anyway. I like our lock and have managed just as well without it. So what.

Um... if you mean me by that, you completely misunderstand. "Nonsense" would be something generally derogatory.
I wrote that it has no added value for ME personally, just like the trend towards automation, nevertheless I had thoroughly informed myself about it.
At the same time, I never forget to write that as a young person I was also very tech-savvy, today I am rather too lazy and I give it up, in case someone here shouts. I believe (my opinion) that many such things are more like "men's toys" and "toys" is something important and by no means meant derogatorily. I simply have other toys...
My approach then went rather in the direction that it was related to security and that you need something for that reason.
Are you only allowed to throw tulips and cheer here...? The forum is supposed to be exactly for experiencing different viewpoints. I have mine and explain it each time (mostly at length o_O), without ever devaluing the preferences of others and another reader can accept it or not for themselves.
