For me too. Personally, I find it absurd to spend extra money on an automatic door closer. I wouldn’t want it even if it were free. Organizing my keys and actions has never been a problem for me. Quietly, I think that in the time I need to earn the money for the surcharge, I can turn the key in the lock at least 2000 times. But I don’t say this out loud here. I’m already the alternative aunt here anyway. :p

Hi, my door is semi-motorized and automatically locking (automatic locking). That's really great. I have a door station with RFID and FP and hardly ever need a key anymore. Whoever should get in receives an RFID token from me - done. To go out, just pull the door - done. (From an insurance perspective, the door is considered "locked")

Can you translate that for regular key users? :p

You are also at least one generation ahead… (not referring to technology now…) ;)

The door has a motorized lock, but a "basic" one for only a 500€ surcharge. The motor does not lock the lock, it only unlocks it. The locking is done mechanically. Of course, a lock with a locking cylinder is installed. But I hardly ever operate the locking cylinder with a key. The motor opens the door for me either via fingerprint (FP = Fingerprint reader) or when I hold an RFID token in front of it. The door then pops open and I just have to close it again. I can also open it via an app (and beforehand look at the built-in camera to see who is standing there). But that’s more of a gimmick and, in my opinion, not really necessary. But better to have than to need ;). No, it’s really great and comparable to heated seats in a car. Once you have them, you’ll never buy a car without again. The matching door station was unfortunately a bit more expensive than 500€

Well, to each their own. I see zero disadvantages, only advantages. And if I go out without a key, I’m just as stuck with a normal cylinder lock. You always need to have the key anyway, so I don’t understand that argument either. Also the supposedly high additional costs. We build houses for I don’t know how many hundred thousand euros… and then that makes a difference? As I said, to each their own. However, I find this constant “what nonsense” talk exhausting…
