I didn't give it much thought before either, and in our current house we only have just under 2.50m. When we looked at various show houses, we noticed that a higher room looks significantly better. In my opinion, it has to be at least 2.60m. For our new house, we are now planning for a finished room height of 2.70m. I would take a close look and measure again in the show houses beforehand. You can't change the room height later, and a few centimeters more make a big difference. For us, an increase of 12.5 cm including higher windows cost almost 1700 euros, I didn't find that very expensive.

Hello Sabine,
experiencing 2.67 m was already amazing. It looks great! The only thing is that the additional costs of €6,000 are still a bit high for me at the moment. The windows are also enlarged, and unfortunately, they are made of wood/aluminum. Not an easy decision, but it feels like a sensible investment.
I will reflect on it and then negotiate with my wife.
Best regards
