Welcome! You see, the replies are lacking. Basically, we need all the information - even if it seems unimportant to you. Otherwise, it ends in endless questioning about the initial situation. So here for you:

Read it once and then list everything along with a site plan if possible. Then things will also work out with the neighbor - uh with the replies. ;)

Thanks for the assessment. Whether the guest room will ever become a bedroom remains to be seen. Still have a few decades :-).

We wanted to combine the children's rooms upstairs. Or just have an office and bedroom.

We really can’t, that's why the architect is involved. At first, he left the upper floor to us. And we definitely wanted the storage room...

The alternative is to turn the house into two apartments and rent them out. Who lives there then? We wouldn’t care :-D.

Hello Katja, thank you. I have filled that out above. Only the plot does not help. The outer walls are fixed here. That is just how it is.

But another question: Where else can you get a second opinion for the pure floor plan? Are there places for that? Or do we have to find a second architect and explain everything we want to them again? They will then also find it annoying that we are not building with them?

You have not even remotely filled it out. Nowhere does it say, for example, that the exterior dimensions are specified. No site plan. Why the basement is only 25 sqm. What about the roof? Was the plot built on? Parking spaces, etc. Your possibly someday rental idea is ruining the floor plan.

Then create a room program for yourselves
not living room, bedroom, etc.
But
kitchen with island, dining table dimensions, sofa dimensions, wall unit
Important is everything that distinguishes you from others
the display cabinet with trophies, the shoe collection, the sewing table

Then draw exactly these requirements into each floor plan.
You notice the storage room has more door than storage space,
where will the bags, shoes, jackets go?
The sofa will hardly suit you
Where the media, etc.
