The entrance area could be separated, and the kitchen could be designed open. I would personally find that nicer. Depending on the kitchen size and utility room in the granny flat, child 2 moves to the north or - of course nicer - to the south.

I would also swap the children's room and utility room like kaho. Then have a shared utility room for the granny flat and the house. Everyone can have their own washing machine there, and you have a possible connection between the two, saving on pipes and possibly a second heating system. Doors can then be locked for privacy. Alternatively, you can work with antechambers. Then the small kitchen is really a disaster. You don't even have space for a refrigerator or workspace. The oven should (in my opinion) also be at working height. Then leave out the shower in the guest bathroom. That gives the child 2 sqm more space. I have drawn roughly. Unfortunately, Paint doesn't offer everything that would look nice, but I think you know what I mean.

We still need to practice straight lines. (Holding Shift and dragging with the mouse works in PS - Paint I don’t know) On the topic: I think the OP didn’t want to swap the kitchen with the bedroom... But I also think the bedroom in the south would be totally stupid – it’s way too hot in summer and no one is there during the day anyway.

Just a quick sketch, I would basically change the orientation of the house so that the south side is used better.

By the way, you can do that too, Blaupuma, with your furniture: just grab a pencil to get a feel for the measurements and spaces.

Hello,

Thank you very much for the suggestions.

There are a few things I would like to keep:

The location of the house should remain the same, (it has to, the plot doesn’t allow otherwise) and I want the main entrance in the middle.

I personally prefer an orientation more towards the west than towards the south (I work at noon).

Large apartment:

The utility room should stay in the old place: direct entrance from the intended parking space into the house (dirty entrance).

The bedroom should remain in the original place.

The rest is variable.

Note: Mother-in-law is already older, and renting out to outsiders is not excluded. (privacy)

Small apartment:

The number of rooms must be kept without making the living-dining area smaller. This will probably have to be tight :-(
