So, we also have a bungalow. One that is very open in design. By no means perfect children's rooms. But: when I have to go to the bathroom in my nightgown, my husband's buddies don't see my backside when I go to the bathroom. Since the bathroom separates the parents' bedroom from the children's rooms, they also don't hear the bed creaking. Still, we have a reasonably large kitchen, space for the fireplace, and can still comfortably get past the dining table. We don't have an entrance through the utility room. We would never use that either.
What you have designed there will be cramped even when furnished reasonably.
A sincere hint: start completely from scratch. First build your domicile. Whatever remains can be used by the mother-in-law.
No one here wants to bully you. But maybe it should give you something to think about that across the board everyone considers the design unsuccessful. And there are people involved who really know what they're talking about.
Can you show me the floor plan?
So: the 70 sqm granny flat is mandatory, for personal reasons.
That means I have 140-145 sqm plus gallery left for us.
For 4 people.
I need the main entrance in the front. And I want the utility room at the back.
Let's throw out the rest as an example. What would be more ideal now?
Swap kitchen and bedroom, is that all?
For me, an open area means a spacious view. Not a living room around the corner to separate it from the dining room, etc.
I don't want 1.5 stories. I want an open ceiling up to the ridge in the living room.
