That's true, at least I can't find it anymore.

Although that is confusing again.
But you can clearly see the approx. 45 degrees on the sketch.
It's just that you don't always have the drawings in front of you when they were posted a few pages earlier.

This way, you can also move a bit away from the beech tree.

Does the existing house have a basement?

Oh, why? You mean you’re going to convert that thing no matter what, even if there are cheaper and more spacious rooms on the upper floor? You’d rather do without the rooms on the upper floor? Honestly, that sounds like some kind of romanticized pipe dream that you’ll wish to hell away after three months of climbing stairs. But of course, the builder is king.

I confused it with the current roof  Well, the OP wants a bit more than just a 1-meter knee wall. And since only one full story is allowed, he gives up some space in the attic (not to be confused with the loft/roof space). Also, I recall that he finds a room in the attic quite nice or cozy. Not every builder has to want a town villa and straight walls. For some, this attic room is a feel-good room, a nice-to-have, a reason to build again. This doesn't have to apply to the OP in every way, but you don't have to understand everything if someone has different priorities when building. But okay, I admit that I would plan it more delicately than just crudely cutting off the attic. Possibly I would actually plan an open space, so that the inside hallway upstairs also gains attractiveness and airiness and thereby becomes a highlight. Or through an extension at the back (living room or dining) a corner for the terrace is created. However, I am also a fan of using the attic as living space, for example like this

Basically, everyone as they like. However, experience shows in my opinion that such rooms are gimmicks if you are not dependent on them. Who voluntarily lives on 3 floors? The attic very quickly becomes a storage room for the model railway or similar. In this case, you also generate additional costs, with which you could alternatively create much better rooms more cheaply. That's pretty crazy. But who isn't? ;) The staircase location also forces openness in this case. With 2 children, it's kind of a thing but okay, you get used to it.

I really don't want to talk anyone's dream house down but it only looks nice in the pictures. In reality, it's a pain to bump your head on the slant every time you get in or out of bed. The dormer is not allowed, so you end up with a full headache on both sides. ;)
