I will ask a friend who is an architect next Tuesday, who obviously does not work for the [BU], what he thinks about the whole thing. Just a neutral opinion. And if he confirms that, then we will have to bite the bullet and redesign and pay for the whole thing again.

But please show a little mercy as well.

I am open to the whole process, even though, of course, it is somewhat painful because of the time and money invested. This is the first time we are building, and I have tried to prepare myself as best as possible. When someone criticizes something, I naturally explain what I was thinking - and maybe that will put it into perspective a bit. Until last night, I was completely convinced of our design and was really excited. Within less than 24 hours, that excitement turns into pure disappointment…

That doesn't just pass by without a trace. I take the input into account and see what we can make of it.

Most of you know this. You surely as well, after your first floor plan was, in my opinion, a total disaster, and you worked your way to a better, compatible one…

No no, it wasn’t just 24 hours since we gave you our feedback on the first presentation of basically the same draft (not just cute)!

We did a complete reset and planned again, following the motto "Kill your darlings". Everything can be read here "live". Really nothing of what we originally conceived and liked has remained – except for the clinker, bay window, and L-shaped living-dining area.

But that also dictates a lot. The orientation of the house on the plot together with the L-shaped living/kitchen combo basically only allows alternatives in the orientation and type of the hallway, WC, and utility room. Otherwise, we would be sitting in the dark or the access to the terrace would be strange.

But as I said, let's see what the architect says on Tuesday and see how it goes from there.

I agree with you there. But I also thought that the architect would correct everything that didn't fit, which partly happened (width of walkways, standing height at the stairs, etc.).
And otherwise, we were probably still convinced and happy enough with the floor plan.
