Building with an architect - really cheaper?

I wouldn’t categorically say that the architect is the most expensive. A friend built with an architect who had a network of craftsmen built up over years at hand. At least they submitted an offer and that with a fair price without a construction boom surcharge. If you watch out for the planning costs and agree on a flat rate instead of HOAI, it can definitely be attractive.
